Frequently asked questions

Electrician questions, answered

Real answers from a local Kill Devil Hills electrician crew — no fluff, no upsell.

Why is electrical work different on the Outer Banks?

Salt air corrodes panels, fixtures and connections, flood zones can affect where service equipment sits, and rental houses add loads over the years. We choose materials, locations and circuit sizes for those conditions, not for a dry inland house, and we say so in the quote.

Do you work on rentals between guests?

Yes. We schedule around your changeover calendar and tell you what we can do and when. For a failure with guests due, we say plainly whether we can reach you that day or not. Planned work is easiest in the off-season.

Can you upgrade a panel that trips under load?

Yes. We calculate the house’s real load, inspect the panel for corrosion and heat damage and tell you whether a breaker change or a service upgrade is the fix. The quote names the equipment, the permit and the inspection, so you can compare it with any other bid you get.

Do you pull permits and call inspections?

Yes. Panel, service and new-circuit work is permitted and inspected through the local building department that covers your address, and we tell you in the quote what permit applies. Unpermitted electrical work can cost you at the next insurance claim or sale.

What areas do you cover?

Nags Head, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Southern Shores, Duck, Corolla and Manteo, plus the surrounding northern Outer Banks. Ask us about Hatteras Island, Avon or Buxton, since travel time and scheduling depend on the job and the time of year, so ask before you book.

What about your license and insurance?

North Carolina requires a license in the applicable classification to engage in electrical contracting under G.S. 87-43, and you should ask any electrician for the license number and insurance details in writing. Ask us when you request the quote. We give a written quote before work starts.

/* `bottom-0` + `pb-[env(safe-area-inset-bottom)]` keeps the bar clear of the home indicator on a notched device. The `sm:hidden` is what makes it mobile-only: from 640px up the header carries the number, and two of them on one screen is a duplicate, not a reinforcement. THE BAR IS RENDERED ONLY WHEN THERE IS A NUMBER. A site built for a business with no phone on file (measured 2026-10-21: 19 of the 100 OBX prospects) would otherwise ship a "Call " button whose href is "tel:+1" — a dead link, and a bar that covers the legal disclosure while pointing at nothing. The form is the CTA on those sites. */
