Frequently asked questions

What do I need to know about Pool Service on the Outer Banks?

Do you service pools I did not install?

Yes. Most of the pools on this island were installed by somebody else, and we service all of them. Tell us the make and age of the equipment if you know it, and if you do not, we will work it out at the first visit.

How long does a service visit take?

Thirty to forty-five minutes for a standard residential pool. A larger pool, a pool with a spa attached or a filter that badly needs cleaning takes longer, and we will not rush it to fit a schedule.

Do you service commercial and rental pools?

Yes — rental homes, HOAs, and commercial pools. Those have their own rules about documentation and water testing records, and we keep them. If the property has a compliance file, we will work to it.

Do pools on the Outer Banks need special treatment?

Yes, and it is mostly about salt, sand and wind. The salt in the air raises the salt level, the sand loads the filter and abrades the plaster, and the cover keeps the water warm and still, which is exactly what algae wants. The service interval is shorter here for a reason.

What is the cheapest way to lower my pool's operating cost?

Running the pump the right number of hours and keeping the filter clean. Most of the complaints we get about a pool being expensive to run are a dirty filter and a timer that is off. Both are cheap to fix and both change the bill.

How do I choose between a salt pool and chlorine?

It is a preference question more than a technical one. Salt is gentler and more consistent, and it costs more in equipment corrosion over the life. Chlorine is simpler to change and cheaper to repair. Either works on this coast if it is serviced for salt and sand.

/* `bottom-0` + `pb-[env(safe-area-inset-bottom)]` keeps the bar clear of the home indicator on a notched device. The `sm:hidden` is what makes it mobile-only: from 640px up the header carries the number, and two of them on one screen is a duplicate, not a reinforcement. THE BAR IS RENDERED ONLY WHEN THERE IS A NUMBER. A site built for a business with no phone on file (measured 2026-10-21: 19 of the 100 OBX prospects) would otherwise ship a "Call " button whose href is "tel:+1" — a dead link, and a bar that covers the legal disclosure while pointing at nothing. The form is the CTA on those sites. */
